Dimitrious Stanley Endorsed by The Columbus Dispatch

Dimitrious Stanley is the first Columbus Republican to receive the outright endorsement of the Columbus Dispatch in 16 years.

• Dimitrious Stanley is a newcomer with a name advantage as a former wide receiver for the Ohio State Buckeyes (he also played professionally for a time after OSU in the 1990s). Now operating his own businesses in the wellness and health-care areas, Stanley, 41, lists Urban Meyer and Kirk Herbstreit among his endorsements, and is being advised by former mayor and fellow former Buckeye football player Greg Lashutka.

Stanley is putting a strong focus on ethics and good government, proposing having a bipartisan commission recommend future council appointees and establishing an ethics watchdog for City Hall. He could become the first Republican to be elected to council in more than 15 years, where he could act as a check on the majority party that has tried successfully for years to maintain complete control of council.
